Wisdom teeth arrive last and often find no room left. A tooth that cannot come through fully is impacted — lying sideways, partly buried, or pressing on the tooth in front. That causes repeated infections, swelling, jaw stiffness and decay on the healthy molar next to it.
Removing an impacted wisdom tooth is surgery, not an extraction. The tooth may need to be sectioned and removed in pieces, and the lower ones sit close to the nerve that supplies feeling to the lip and chin. Assessment of that nerve position beforehand is what separates a routine recovery from a complication.
This is a core part of Dr Suveet's surgical practice, and is one of the procedures other Jodhpur clinics refer to him.
The pain from a wisdom tooth is often not the tooth at all but the gum over it, which traps food and becomes infected because a toothbrush cannot reach behind it. Sometimes treating the gum settles it and the tooth can stay. Where it cannot, this is proper oral surgery rather than a simple pull, and it is worth having someone do it who does it every week.
It is also worth ruling out the obvious impostor. Pain at the very back of the mouth is sometimes not the wisdom tooth but the molar in front of it, which is easier to decay because it is just as hard to reach — and that tooth needs a root canal, not an extraction. The X-ray settles which of the two it is before anything is removed.

Local anaesthetic. The area is thoroughly numb before anything begins.

Access is made, the tooth sectioned if needed, and removed piece by piece — which is gentler on the bone than forcing it whole.

Wisdom tooth removal in Jodhpur — common questions
How long does recovery take?
Swelling peaks at around 48 hours and settles over the following week. Most patients take one to two days off. Ice on the outside for the first day, soft food, and no rinsing vigorously for 24 hours.
Is the nerve at risk?
There is a nerve running below the lower wisdom teeth and in a small number of cases it is close enough to matter. That is exactly why we X-ray first and why these cases belong with a maxillofacial surgeon. If the risk is meaningful we will tell you before, not after.
Should I remove a wisdom tooth that is not hurting?
Not always. A fully erupted, cleanable wisdom tooth can be left alone. One that is partly through, impossible to clean and causing decay on the molar in front is different — that one is damaging a tooth worth keeping.
Can both sides be done together?
Yes, and many patients prefer one recovery to two. Eating is harder for a few days, so it is a trade-off we will talk through.
