Roughly a third of what matters in a mouth is invisible to the naked eye. Decay starting between two teeth, infection at the tip of a root, bone lost to gum disease, a wisdom tooth lying sideways under the gum — none of it shows on examination, and all of it shows on an X-ray.
Our X-rays are digital, which means a substantially lower dose than the old film type, an image on screen within seconds, and no chemicals. We can show you the image and point at what we are talking about, which makes the conversation about treatment a great deal more honest than a description.
X-rays are also the basis of any serious planning. No responsible clinic quotes for an implant without imaging the bone first, and no one should be removing a lower wisdom tooth without knowing where the nerve runs.

Are dental X-rays safe?
The dose from a digital dental X-ray is very small — comparable to the background radiation you receive over a normal day. We still only take them when there is a reason, which is the right principle regardless of how low the dose is.
I am pregnant. Can I have an X-ray?
Tell us, always. We avoid routine X-rays during pregnancy and postpone them where we can. Where one is genuinely necessary — an infection that must be treated — it can be taken safely with proper shielding.
Can I bring X-rays taken elsewhere?
Yes, please do. If they are recent and of good quality we will use them rather than repeat them.
