Dr Suveet Mathur is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon — a dental surgeon who has completed a master's degree (MDS) in surgery of the mouth, jaws and face. That is a different qualification from a general dentist's BDS, and it is what allows him to take on the cases that most clinics refer elsewhere: impacted wisdom teeth sitting on a nerve, jaw fractures, cysts and facial bone surgery.
He holds a Fellowship of the Academy of Oral Implantology (FAOI) and a fellowship in immediate loading, the technique where an implant and a temporary tooth are placed in the same visit rather than months apart. He also leads the clinic's full-mouth rehabilitation work, where several missing or failing teeth are rebuilt as one plan instead of one at a time.

Questions about seeing a maxillofacial surgeon
What does an oral and maxillofacial surgeon do that a dentist does not?
A general dentist holds a BDS. An oral and maxillofacial surgeon has completed an additional three-year MDS in surgery of the mouth, jaws and face, and operates on facial bone. That covers impacted wisdom teeth close to the nerve, jaw fractures, cysts and tumours in the jaw, corrective jaw surgery and complex implant cases — the work most dental clinics refer elsewhere.
Do I need a referral from my dentist to see Dr Suveet?
No. Patients can book directly. Many arrive on their own dentist's recommendation, but that is not a requirement — message us and describe the problem.
How does a private maxillofacial surgeon compare with AIIMS Jodhpur?

Will surgery be done under general or local anaesthetic?
Most procedures — including impacted wisdom teeth, implants and bone grafting — are done under local anaesthetic in the clinic. Major corrective jaw surgery is carried out in a hospital under general anaesthetic. You are told which applies to you before you commit to anything.
