Braces move teeth into position over months by applying steady, gentle pressure. They remain the most reliable way to fix crowding, gaps, protruding front teeth and bites that do not meet properly — and they handle complex cases that clear aligners cannot.
Adults make up a growing share of brace patients here, and ceramic braces — tooth-coloured and far less visible than metal — are usually why. There is no upper age limit on moving teeth, provided the gums and bone are healthy.
Straight teeth are not only about appearance. Crowded teeth trap food where a brush cannot reach, which is why crowding so often comes with repeated decay and inflamed gums in the same spots.
Crowding sometimes means a tooth has to come out before braces can work. That sounds worse than it is: a single planned tooth extraction to make room is routine orthodontics, and the alternative — pushing crowded teeth into a jaw with no space — relapses.
What braces involves

Assessment
X-rays, photographs and impressions, and a discussion of what is realistically achievable.

Fitting
Brackets are bonded to the teeth and connected with a wire. Around an hour, and it does not hurt.

Adjustments
Every four to six weeks the wire is changed to keep the teeth moving. Expect a few days of tenderness after each.

Retainers
Teeth drift back without retention. Retainers are not optional — they are what makes the result permanent.
Braces in Jodhpur — common questions
How long will I need to wear braces?
Usually 12 to 24 months. Mild crowding can finish sooner; bite corrections take longer. We give you an estimate after the X-rays, not before.
Do braces hurt?
Fitting does not hurt. The teeth ache for two or three days after fitting and after each adjustment — soft food and ordinary painkillers cover it. After that you stop noticing them.
Metal or ceramic?
Ceramic braces are tooth-coloured and much less visible, and cost more. Metal is stronger, cheaper and slightly faster for complex movements. For teenagers, metal is usually the sensible choice; adults more often choose ceramic.
Can braces be paid for monthly?
Orthodontic treatment is normally paid in instalments across the treatment rather than upfront, since it runs over a year or more. Ask us on WhatsApp for the current arrangement.
Am I too old for braces?
No. Teeth move at any age. What matters is healthy gums and bone, which we check first — and if gum treatment is needed, that comes before the braces.
