Dentures replace missing teeth when implants or bridges are not suitable, or when too many teeth are missing for either to work. A complete denture replaces a whole arch; a partial fills in around the teeth you still have.
The common complaint about dentures is that they slip, particularly the lower one, and that eating certain things becomes impossible. That is largely a problem of the old design. A denture anchored onto two or more implants clips into place and does not move — for most people it is the single biggest quality-of-life difference available in dentistry.

Will people be able to tell?
A well-made denture is not obvious. The giveaway is usually movement rather than appearance, which is why we discuss implant-supported options for the lower jaw in particular.
How long until I can eat normally?
Soft food for the first week, then most things. Eating with a new denture is a skill and it takes a few weeks to relearn. Start with food cut small and chew on both sides at once.
What is an implant-supported denture?
Two or more implants are placed in the jaw and the denture clips onto them. It comes out for cleaning but does not move while you eat or talk. It costs more than a conventional denture and considerably less than replacing every tooth with its own implant.
