Nakli Dant (Dentures): Kaun Se Lagwayein, Kharcha aur Dekhbhal

Medically reviewed by Dr Suveet Mathur, BDS, MDS — Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery ·

Quick answer

Nakli dant, or dentures, replace missing teeth with a removable plate: a complete denture for a whole jaw, or a partial denture that clips onto remaining teeth. They take three to five visits to make, usually last five to eight years, and need daily cleaning and removal at night. Implant-supported dentures clip onto two or more implants so they do not move while eating.

Hinglish me: Nakli dant yaani dentures, gaayab daanton ki jagah nikalne wala plate: poore jabde ke liye complete denture, ya bache daanton par clip hone wala partial denture. Banne me teen se paanch visit lagti hain, aam taur par paanch se aath saal chalte hain, aur roz safai aur raat ko nikaalna zaroori hai. Implant wale dentures do ya zyada implant par clip hote hain, isliye khaate samay hilte nahi.

Questions like nakli dant kaise lagte hain, kitne ka lagta hai and kaise saaf karein are common Hinglish searches, often made by adult children for a parent. Modern dentures fit far better than older ones, and implants can stop a loose denture moving altogether.

This guide is written by Pain-Off Dental Care in Sardarpura, Jodhpur, where dentures, implant-supported dentures and full mouth implants are planned with Dr Suveet Mathur, an MDS oral and maxillofacial surgeon.

Nakli dant ke prakar (Types of dentures)

There are four main types of dentures. A complete denture replaces all the teeth in a jaw and rests on the gums. A partial denture replaces some teeth and clips onto the remaining ones. A flexible denture is a partial made of bendable nylon with gum-coloured clasps. An implant-supported denture clips onto implants so it does not move.

  • Complete denture: all teeth in a jaw; lowest cost; the lower one tends to move most.
  • Partial denture: some teeth; acrylic, or a thinner, stronger metal frame.
  • Flexible denture: no metal visible, comfortable; harder to adjust or add to later.
  • Implant-supported denture: clips onto two or more implants; stable while eating and talking.

Nakli dant kaise bante aur lagte hain? (How they are made)

Dentures are made over about three to five visits: impressions of the gums, bite records, a wax try-in so you and the dentist can check the look and fit, and then fitting the finished denture. Follow-up visits in the first weeks smooth away sore spots. When teeth must be removed first, an immediate denture can often be fitted the same day.

Kitne ka lagta hai? (Cost)

The cost of dentures depends on the type and number of teeth: a small partial denture costs least, a complete set more, flexible and metal-framed partials more than acrylic, and implant-supported dentures the most because of the implants. At Pain-Off Dental Care in Jodhpur, the dentist examines the gums and remaining teeth and gives a written cost for each option first.

Nakli dant ki safai aur dekhbhal (Care)

Clean dentures every day with a soft brush and mild soap or a denture cleaner, not ordinary toothpaste, which scratches them. Take them out at night and keep them in water or a soaking solution, as the American College of Prosthodontists advises. Never use hot water or bleach. Brush the gums, tongue and any remaining teeth daily too.

  • Clean over a basin of water or a folded towel, so a dropped denture does not break.
  • Have the fit checked every year; gums and bone shrink and dentures loosen.
  • Loose dentures cause sore spots and ulcers; do not ignore a sore spot that lasts more than a week.
  • If a denture or part of one is ever swallowed, go to a hospital emergency department immediately.

Implant wale fixed dant (Implant-supported options)

Implant-supported dentures solve the biggest problem with ordinary dentures: movement. Two or more implants are placed in the jaw and the denture clips onto them, so it stays put while eating and talking but still comes out for cleaning. A full fixed bridge on four to six implants does not come out at all. Both depend on having enough jawbone.

Common questions

Nakli dant lagwana chahiye ya implant?

Dental implants feel and work most like natural teeth and protect the jawbone, but cost more and need minor surgery. Dentures cost less and need no surgery, but they move and need replacing every few years. Implant-supported dentures are a middle path. The right choice depends on bone, general health and budget, which an examination shows.

Nakli dant kitne saal chalte hain?

Dentures usually last about five to eight years before they need replacing, because the gums and jawbone slowly shrink and the fit loosens. A reline in between can tighten the fit. Loose dentures cause sore spots and make eating harder, so have the fit checked every year.

How long does it take to get used to new dentures?

Most people take a few weeks to get used to new dentures. Speech may feel different for the first days, and eating is a skill to relearn: start with soft food cut small, chewing on both sides at once. Sore spots are common at first and are adjusted at follow-up visits.

Should I sleep with my dentures in?

Most dentists advise taking dentures out at night, unless told otherwise. This rests the gums, lowers the risk of fungal infection under the denture, and lets you clean it properly. Keep dentures in water or a soaking solution overnight so they do not dry out and change shape.

Nakli dant ko chipkane ke liye kya lagayein? (Denture adhesive)

A small amount of denture adhesive cream can help a well-fitting denture feel more secure, used as the pack directs. Needing more and more adhesive is a sign the denture no longer fits and needs relining or replacing. Adhesive should not be used to make up for a badly fitting denture, which causes sores.

Can elderly people get fixed teeth instead of dentures?

Yes. Age alone does not rule out implants; people in their 70s and 80s have implant-supported dentures or fixed teeth when their general health and bone allow. Conditions such as diabetes need to be well controlled. An examination and X-ray show whether there is enough bone.

Nakli dant se masude me chhale ho gaye, kya karein?

Sore spots or ulcers under dentures usually mean the denture is rubbing in one place. Take the denture out as much as you can, rinse with warm salt water, and see the dentist for a quick adjustment. An ulcer or patch under a denture that does not heal within three weeks must be examined.
